Public Finance Paralegal
Location: San Antonio, TX (preferred) or Austin, TX
Work Arrangement: Primarily in-office with one work-from-home day per week
Experience: 5–7+ years of paralegal experience, including 2+ years of Public Finance experience
Position Overview
Our client, a highly regarded law firm with a sophisticated and busy Public Finance practice, is seeking an experienced Public Finance Paralegal to join its Texas team. The position can be based in San Antonio or Austin, with San Antonio preferred.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced paralegal who enjoys taking ownership of complex transactions and working closely with accomplished public finance attorneys. The paralegal will primarily support the firm's Public Finance Practice Leader's book of business while also working with attorneys across multiple Texas offices.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting public finance and municipal bond transactions and be comfortable managing transactions from the document preparation and closing-checklist stages through closing and post-closing.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, proofread and organize complex documents related to public finance transactions.
- Prepare initial drafts of bond and transaction documents.
- Draft legal notices and coordinate required publication.
- Prepare, proof and file public finance legal documents with the Texas Attorney General.
- Create, maintain and update transaction closing checklists and monitor outstanding documents, approvals and deadlines.
- Coordinate the circulation, collection and delivery of signature pages and transaction documents among clients and other parties.
- Coordinate transaction closings, including virtual closings and electronic document distribution.
- Maintain accurate electronic transaction files using document-management and file-sharing systems.
- Assemble, scan and organize transaction documents with a high degree of accuracy.
- Prepare post-closing volumes and closing transcripts and coordinate their reproduction and distribution.
- Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, consultants, community representatives, governmental representatives, board members and other transaction participants.
- Independently manage multiple active transactions and competing deadlines in a fast-paced practice.
Qualifications- 5–7+ years of paralegal experience, with at least 2 years of direct Public Finance experience.
- Hands-on experience supporting public finance, municipal finance and/or bond transactions.
- Experience with Texas public finance matters and Texas Attorney General filings strongly desired.
- Demonstrated experience managing transaction documents, closing checklists, signature pages and closing processes.
- Excellent organizational, proofreading and document-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating effectively with attorneys and other team members.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort working with financial concepts and complex transactional documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and document-management systems such as iManage.
