Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys handling complex plaintiff-side matters involving Employment Law cases. This role is ideal for a highly organized legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and enjoys taking an active role in case development, discovery, trial preparation, and client advocacy.

The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, from initial case evaluation through trial preparation, while ensuring deadlines, filings, and case documentation are handled with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including:
    • Discovery requests and responses
    • Interrogatories
    • Subpoenas
    • Motions
    • Witness declarations
    • Deposition summaries
    • Other litigation-related documents
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders, and coordinating witness schedules.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw and other legal research databases.
  • Analyze statutes, case law, and procedural requirements to support litigation strategy.
  • Manage case deadlines, calendars, court filings, and litigation schedules.
  • Assist with case development by:
    • Conducting client interviews
    • Gathering relevant facts and documentation
    • Reviewing medical and legal records
    • Preparing case summaries and timelines
  • Coordinate depositions, including scheduling court reporters, experts, interpreters, and witnesses.
  • Support attorneys during pre-litigation and active litigation phases.
  • Review and organize case documents to ensure files remain complete and accessible.
  • Provide recommendations based on case evaluations, legal research, and document review.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Perform additional litigation support duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Completion of an ABA-approved Paralegal Program.
  • Minimum 2 years of litigation paralegal experience.
  • Experience supporting plaintiff-side litigation preferred.
  • Background in one or more of the following areas:
    • Employment Law
    • Workers' Compensation
  • Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and discovery rules.
  • Excellent legal writing, drafting, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Preferred

  • Experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw.
  • Proficiency with:
    • Adobe Acrobat Pro
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Legal case management software such as Clio, MyCase, or similar platforms.
  • Experience assisting with depositions, hearings, mediations, or trial preparation.
