About the organization:
Our client is currently recruiting for a full-time Real Estate Paralegal to be based in Washington, DC office. This position will support the Hospitality & Leisure practice group and will report to the Practice Group Leader, with daily work performed primarily under the direction of assigned practice group lawyers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform and coordinate due diligence, including review of title commitments, surveys, zoning reports and underlying documents.
  • Assist in preparation and review of real estate conveyance and closing documents.
  • Coordinate closing of successful real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions and financings, debt and equity transactions; create and manage signature page packages and delivery of all documents and deliverables; confirm contents of appropriate closing checklists; handle recording requirements at closing; and create and assemble closing books with detailed indices.
  • Prepare, review and file UCC financing statements.
  • Order and evaluate UCC, lien, litigation and similar searches.
  • Handle entity formation and maintenance along with related filings.
  • Review and assemble officer's certificates, resolutions, organizational documents and other closing deliverables (familiarity with drafting such deliverables based on precedent and under attorney supervision preferred).
  • Work on special assignments that may require conducting routine fact or legal research, preparing reports and handling associated filings.
  • Interface with firm clients and other outside entities regarding assigned matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 5 years of real estate experience required, preferably in a law firm setting, an in-house legal department or a title company.
  • Large and sophisticated transaction experience is preferred. Title and survey proficiency is required.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision are essential.
  • Must have superior client service and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Must have the ability to interact and work productively with all levels of lawyers, paraprofessionals and business services team members.
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and privacy with confidential matters and documents.
  • Ability to recognize and comprehend facts and legal concepts.
  • Strong computer technical skills and demonstrated ability to learn new technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, PDF creation tool(s), document management software and Elite or other timekeeping software is required.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Associates Degree required or Paralegal Certificate and equivalent experience.
  • Hospitality experience is a plus, but not required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • This position is generally performed in a professional office setting; 70% sitting, 20% standing, and 10% walking
  • This position routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptops, computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, in a home office as well as an in-person office environment.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 20 pounds.
