Position Overview\n
We're seeking a detail-oriented, organized Paralegal to support our growing practice. You'll work directly with Chris Mickler on all aspects of estate planning and probate matters—from document preparation to probate administration and court filings. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, client-focused, and thrives in a small-firm environment where your work directly impacts client outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities\n

- Document Preparation: Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, probate petitions, and related estate planning documents under attorney supervision
- \n
- Probate Administration: Manage probate cases from filing through estate distribution, including court filings, inventory preparation, accounting, and final distribution
- \n
- Legal Research: Conduct research on Texas estate law, probate procedures, and client-specific issues
- \n
- File Management: Organize and maintain client files (both digital and paper), ensure compliance with document retention, and track deadlines
- \n
- Calendar & Deadline Tracking: Monitor and manage court deadlines, probate timelines, statute of limitations, and critical dates
- \n
- Court & Vendor Relations: Interact with probate courts, title companies, financial institutions, and other third parties on client behalf
- \n
- Document Assembly: Prepare trust funding packets, client materials, and closing documents
- \n
Required Qualifications\n
- \n
- High school diploma or GED (paralegal certification preferred but not required)
- \n
- 2+ years of legal experience, preferably in estate planning, probate, or trusts
- \n
- Strong knowledge of Texas probate law and estate planning procedures
- \n
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management software
- \n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- \n
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- \n
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously
- \n
- Professional demeanor and discretion with confidential client information
- \n
- Reliable transportation and willingness to serve Northeast Texas counties as needed
- \n
Preferred Qualifications\n
- \n
- Paralegal certification (NALA, PACE, or Texas-approved program)
- \n
- Experience with estate administration and probate court filings
- \n
- Familiarity with legal practice management software
- \n
- Experience with legal document assembly tools (HotDocs, LawBase, etc.)

- Small-firm or solo practice background
