Days Per Year: 180
Hours Per Day: 6.5

Wage Range (Salaries are stated as an estimate only. Actual salary is confirmed only upon hire/job offer.)
$23.42 - $27.94 / Hour DOE
Note: Employees are paid the last working day of each month.

Position Summary
This position is needed to support the influx of new students in the district. This position will assist with classroom overloads and IEPs.
Supervision and Controls over the Work
The employee works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of a designated school administrator. The employee’s work is governed, controlled, and evaluated by acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations, provisions of Washington Administrative Code and Revised Code of Washington, direction of the supervisor, and performance standards and expectations as set forth in the collective bargaining agreement.

Essential Duties for a Transition Services Paraeducator
Provide direct compassionate support to students with special needs during community-based instruction (e.g. grocery stores, pharmacies, public transit and job sites)
Teach and reinforce real world skills such as handling money, navigation, social interaction, safety awareness and job specific tasks.
Serve as a job coach offering hands on training prompting modeling and feedback tailored to students’ individualized needs.
Collaborate closely with teachers, transition specialists, families, and external partners (e.g. local businesses, transit agencies).
Maintain detailed documentation of student progress toward IEP or transition goals and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
Ensure safety, dignity, and empowerment for students during all community engagements.

Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent.
Demonstrate positive student management strategies that promote student success.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others to promote a positive environment.
Demonstrated proficiency in math, reading, and oral /written language skills.
Demonstrated qualities of adaptability, dependability, humor, and tolerance.
Demonstrated ability to carry out the work assignment with minimal supervision.
Commitment to professional growth.
Demonstrated willingness to accept feedback related to job performance improvement.
Meet Title 1 requirements for highly qualified (pass exam or have 72 college credit hours).

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, or consistent with the subject being taught, but can be abnormally loud on occasion.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.

The employee may be required to travel on school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
