Paraeducator - MoCI Classroom

LOCATION:

Clare-Gladwin Area School; 4041 E. Mannsiding Rd, Clare MI

REPORTS TO:

Classroom Teacher and Principal

SCHEDULE:

School year position following the district calendar

Monday - Friday; 6.75 hours per day

STARTING WAGE:

According to the MEA Contract.

$14.37 per hour, or higher - based on actual years of experience

STARTING DATE:

As soon as possible

JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Paraeducator is responsible for assisting teachers, Itinerant staff and others in the support of instructional, health related, recreation and/or pre-vocational job training activities. The Paraeducator may be assigned to one classroom or to

a variety of assignments depending on the needs of the students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Working knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, and task analysis.
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with students, parents, community, and peers.
• Ability to understand and work with children of all ages.
• Must demonstrate cooperative and effective communication skills, both oral and written, and apply active listening skills.
