Position Summary:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, and achievement
• Guide and support students in reading, language arts, mathematics, computer use, and other skills
• Work with students individually, in small groups, or whole class to reinforce instruction and implement programs
• Assist with administering and grading classroom assignments, tests, and assessments
• Help prepare instructional materials and reinforce skills tailored to individual student needs
• Maintain records to track student performance and learning
• Support behavioral management to ensure a safe and orderly classroom
• Supervise students in non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus arrival/dismissal, playground, hallways, and study halls
• Prepare classroom materials as directed by the teacher
• Assist with parent communication as requested by the teacher
• Participate in the IEP process and provide input as a member of the student support team
• Support students with daily living activities, including toileting, feeding, hygiene, and mobility
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures, especially when supporting students with special needs
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information at all times
• Encourage student independence, self-esteem, and social-emotional growth
• Provide classroom coverage/substitute when needed

• Understanding of inclusive education and support for diverse learners
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to implement teacher-directed instructional and behavioral strategies

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or minimum 48 college credits preferred
• Experience working with children in a school or youth program setting preferred

Pay Range

• $28.85-$36.84 per hour
