Posting Information: We are currently hiring a Lead Coordinator Para Educator for the 2026-27 school year. This is a temporary position that will last for the duration of the school year. This position will remain open until filled. For best consideration, applicants should apply by 9/11/26.
Schedule: Up to 30 additional hours to be paid at Step 3 of the Para Tech salary schedule in effect at the time the work is completed for supervisor approved work that occurs outside the employee's regularly scheduled work day. Up to 5 paid release days for supervisor approved work that occurs during the employee's regularly scheduled work day
Salary: $3,000 annual stipend to be paid in equal monthly installments from September to August (pro-rated for positions that start after the first day of school).
Overview
The Paraeducator Lead Coordinator strengthens districtwide consistency, communication, onboarding, mentoring, and professional learning for paraeducators. The Coordinator facilitates the work of Paraeducator Leads, develops shared resources, communicates recurring needs and questions to appropriate District departments, and supports a coherent paraeducator development program across worksites.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be a current Para Educator in Shelton School District with at least two years of successful Para Educator experience
- Demonstrated leadership through collaboration, mentoring, facilitation, training, and/or project coordination
- Knowledge of District procedures, para educator professional standards, student confidentiality, and role boundaries
- Experience supporting students with varied instructional, behavioral, communication, or accessibility needs
- Demonstrated ability to build positive, professional, and trusting relaitonships with colleagues and administrators
- Demonstrated strong verbal, written, presentation, and group-facilitation communication skills
- Ability to organize districtwide meetings, communication, resources, and implementation timelines
- Ability to collaborate effectively with para educators, Association representatives, adminstrators, Human Resources, Student Services, Teaching and Learning, and other District department
- Ability to maintain neutrality, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and trust across multiple buildins
- Ability to distinguish peer support from supervision and consistently maintain the non-supervisory scope of the assignment
- Ability to explain procedures and resources acurately while recognizing when questions should be referred to an administator or different department
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, neutrality, and discretion

Essential Functions
- Facilitates regular meetings of Para Educator Leads and develops agendas in collaboration with administration
- Provides Para Educator Leads with onboarding materials, mentoring tools, meeting resources, communication templates, and professional learning supports
- Coordinates consistent onboarding and peer-mentoring practices across participating worksites
- Assists District departments and Para educator Leads in planning and delivering districtwide paraeducator professional learning
- Maintains a central collection of current paraeducator procedures, resources, frequently asked questions, and referral contacts
- Facilitates communication among Paraeducator Leads and helps identify districtwide themes, implementation questions, and professional learning needs
- Communicates general trends and recommendations to appropriate District and Association representatives without disclosing confidential employee or student information
- Supports consistent understanding of para educator roles, professional boundaries, safety procedures, confidentiality, and student-support practices
- Assists with evaluation of the Lead program through participation data, feedback surveys, onboarding indicators, and annual program review
- Coordinates recognition, networking, and engagement opportunities for paraeducators as mutually agreed
- Maintains non-evaluative records of program activities, resources, meetings, and professional learning
- Continues to perform the essential functions of the employee's regular paraeducator assignment
- Performs other mutually agreed-upon districtwide peer-support duties consistent with the non-supervisory nature of the assignment
