    SUMMARY OF POSITION: Supports professional staff.

    QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or state-issued high school equivalency credential (i.e., GED, HiSET, TASC); 48 college credit hours including 9 English credits and 6 Math credits or passing score of 450 on the Para-Pro Assessment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other additional duties/responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent may be assigned.

    • Reinforces instruction through drill and practice activities with individual students or small groups; leads assigned student activities.
    • Checks students' work in the classroom and demonstrates instructional material.
    • Administers assigned tests evaluating student learning.
    • Files student work and maintains related records.
    • Supervises assigned students at recess, school arrival and departure, field trips or other assigned duty; escorts students between sites, and in the community/work assignment.
    • Assists in arranging instructional site to facilitate learning.
    • Checks attendance and may notify parents of absences; collects money for lunch, fees, or trips; and records information in assigned manner.
    • Reproduces instructional material for the teacher.
    • Corrects student assignments and records student grades.
    • Prepares bulletin boards.
    • Attends faculty, PTA and related meetings.
    • Provides clerical support to assigned professional by typing related material and compiling information.
    • Provides assistance to student with toileting, personal and hygiene care needs which may include lifting.
    • Assists in collecting and maintaining data about student behavior; assists in implementing behavior management programs.
    • Assists in the set up and maintenance of adaptive and technological equipment.
    • Maintains an inventory of classroom materials and equipment.

    DUTIES - RTI:

    • Supports general education teachers within the general education setting and/or small group setting by providing interventions for students who are struggling academically and/or behaviorally
    • Works with general education students who are at risk of being identified as a student with a disability

    METHOD OF EVALUATION: Evaluations in accordance with the Lafayette Parish School System Policy GBI -Evaluation.

All employees are required to adhere to daily schedule, punctuality, and attendance set forth by the district.

This job does require public contact, both on the telephone and in person, under sometimes-stressful conditions.
