Painter Prep Technician I to help prepare aviation components for painting and finishing. This is a great opportunity for individuals with manufacturing, automotive, aviation, or industrial painting experience who enjoy working in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment.
What You'll Do
As a Painter Prep Technician I, you will play a critical role in preparing aircraft parts for painting and finishing by:
- Cleaning, sanding, masking, and preparing aircraft components for paint application
- Following work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures
- Using tools and equipment such as sanders, paint sprayers, and related shop equipment
- Handling sealants, paint strippers, and corrosion-prevention materials safely and effectively
- Completing required paperwork and documentation accurately
- Tracking labor and materials using the company ERP system
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Inspecting work to ensure it meets customer and quality requirements
- Working independently and as part of a team to meet production goals
- Performing other duties as assigned
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, painting, automotive body work, aviation, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good mechanical aptitude and hand skills
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions and work procedures
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules when needed
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of paint preparation or related experience
- Experience in aerospace, aviation, automotive paint, or industrial finishing environments
- Familiarity with paint mixing systems and paint-thinning processes
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to work around paints, solvents, and industrial chemicals in a manufacturing environment
