SURESTAFF is immediately hiring Paint Prep Technicians for a large, well-known client in Roanoke, TX. As a Paint Prep Technician, you will be an essential part of our client’s manufacturing team, ensuring aluminum and steel components are properly prepared for painting by performing cleaning, sanding, masking, grinding, and priming operations to produce high-quality finished products.
The Paint Prep Technician is responsible for preparing parts and assemblies for the paint process while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in industrial, automotive, commercial vehicle, or manufacturing paint preparation and be comfortable working with hand tools, abrasives, and surface preparation equipment.

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Occasional overtime on Fridays may be required based on production needs.
Responsibilities of the Paint Prep Technician:
- Prepare aluminum and steel components for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, and scuffing surfaces.
- Remove dirt, grease, oil, rust, and other contaminants prior to paint application.
- Apply masking materials to protect areas that should not be painted.
- Assist with applying primers and sealers as directed.
- Inspect parts to ensure surfaces meet quality standards before entering the paint booth.
- Operate hand tools, power sanders, grinders, and other preparation equipment safely.
- Identify and report surface defects or damaged components prior to painting.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas and workstations.
- Follow work instructions, production schedules, and quality requirements.
- Handle materials and components carefully to prevent damage.
- Comply with all OSHA, PPE, and company safety procedures.
- Assist painters and production personnel as needed to meet daily production goals.
Required Qualifications of the Paint Prep Technician:
- Minimum 1 year of paint preparation, body shop, industrial painting, automotive, or manufacturing experience required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience preparing aluminum and steel surfaces for paint.
- Ability to use hand tools, power sanders, grinders, and other preparation equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
