Job Summary
Detail-oriented Automotive Paint Prep Technician with experience preparing vehicles and components for the paint process in a fast-paced manufacturing or collision repair environment. Skilled in identifying paint defects, wet sanding, surface preparation, masking support, and assisting painters to ensure high-quality finishes. Knowledgeable in automotive paint products, application processes, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles and parts for paint defects, surface imperfections, and quality concerns.
- Perform sanding and surface preparation using proper tools and equipment to ensure readiness for paint application.
- Prepare vehicles and components for masking and painting operations.
- Assist painters and masking technicians with all paint preparation activities.
- Conduct wet sanding, paint correction, and finish preparation as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Follow quality, safety, and production standards throughout the painting process.
- Work collaboratively with paint, body, and production teams to meet deadlines and quality expectations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Previous experience in an automotive paint shop, body shop, manufacturing paint department, or vehicle finishing environment preferred.
- Basic understanding of automotive paint systems, products, and application processes.
- Experience using sanding equipment, hand tools, and paint preparation materials.
