Job Title: Packer

Job Description

This role involves kitting, assembling, and packaging small medical components in a climate-controlled production environment. You will work on a first shift schedule, performing repetitive but precise tasks to assemble care kits and diabetic testing meters, prepare them for shipment, and support overall production quality and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repetitive assembly of care kits and diabetic testing meters, including light assembly of products and associated literature or instructions.
  • Follow written work instructions accurately to complete kitting, assembly, and packaging tasks.
  • Pack shipping boxes, ensuring products are correctly placed, labeled, and prepared for shipment.
  • Label packages and prepare pallets, including palatalizing boxes for shipment.
  • Stand at a designated workstation for up to 9 hours per day while performing assembly and packing tasks.
  • Conduct basic quality inspections of assembled products and packaging as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by performing general 5S and housekeeping duties.
  • Collaborate with 2–3 team members at the workstation to meet production and quality goals.
  • Demonstrate consistent, reliable attendance in accordance with the strictly enforced attendance policy.
  • Perform additional general labor and production duties as needed to support operations.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 0–5 years of experience in packing, production, assembly, packaging, or general labor.
  • Ability to stand in the same location for 9 hours per day.
  • Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks with attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address basic production or packaging issues.
  • Excellent communication abilities to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices related to packing, assembly, and production.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong attendance and reliability, with the ability to adhere to a strict attendance policy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with labeling and hand assembly in a production or packaging environment.
  • Experience in kitting or packaging small components, especially in a medical or similar regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with 5S principles and basic housekeeping standards in a production setting.
  • Comfort working in a repetitive, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.
  • Ability to perform general labor tasks as needed, including palletizing and moving packaged products.

Work Environment

The position is based in a climate-controlled facility in the Fishers/Indianapolis area. You will work first shift, Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with possible overtime on Fridays until 3:00 p.m. and occasional Saturday work if needed. During holiday weeks, the schedule reverts to 8-hour days. The role requires standing at a workstation for up to 9 hours per day alongside 2–3 other employees, kitting and packaging small components for the medical industry. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to 5S and housekeeping standards, with a strictly enforced attendance policy and a focus on teamwork and consistent production quality.

This is a Contract position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
