Packaging Technician

Position Summary

The Packaging Tech position provides support in packaging cannabis material and in the production of pre-rolled joints by following policies, procedures, and operational guidelines. This position is responsible for proper packaging and labeling while assuring quality expected by company standards and ensuring a clean and safe work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Package plant material into proper containers with proper labeling
• Ensure compliance with METRC and State regulations
• Exhibit competency in basic organizational skills, communication skills and windows based operating software
• Manage time efficiently to meet goals while consistently producing quality product
• Sanitation & cleanup of all packaging machines and areas throughout the day to promote a safe, clean and effective work environment.
• Assist with the production line, load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies
• Fill and package products for delivery
• Record data
• Develop skills to assist in safe troubleshooting and repair process of packaging, handling, & labeling equipment.
• Develop quality control skills to assist with quality assurance of packaged product
• Operate pallet jack, safely, to assist in daily production tasks.
• Able to comfortably climb a stepladder to assist with production tasks.
• Develop further skills to operate production equipment and machinery safely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• 1-2 years minimum experience in regulated cannabis cultivation preferred. Use Cultivation 1
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must be able to pass a background check
• Have a positive attitude
• An exceptional work ethic
• Employee must exhibit good personal hygiene
• Weekend availability when required

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• This position requires a lot of sitting, walking, bending and reaching.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, lift objects on a regular basis, and perform daily repetitive tasks.
• Close visual focus required.
• This position requires the extended and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Mechanical skills and maintenance repair abilities
• Requires some computer/office tasks such as typing.
• Must be able to handle organic matter daily, able to wear PPE as appropriate (eye, face, hand, arm, head, foot, body, fall protection), and able to be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions while wearing PPE
• Must be able to adapt quickly to changes in policy, procedure and technique
• Exposure to allergens and chemical pesticides in the grow facility or greenhouse
• Work environments that include exposure to, but not limited to, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, extreme heat temperatures, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, noise, protective gear, vibrations, and water
