What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
- Package and label individual products, packs, bulk items, and cases according to company and customer requirements.
- Verify labels, lot numbers, counts, weights, and product information for accuracy.
- Assemble boxes, prepare pallets, stage products, and assist with shrink wrapping and outgoing shipments.
- Prepare shipping documentation, including contents, weights, bills of lading, Certificates of Analysis, and other required documents as needed.
- Receive incoming packaging-related shipments and inspect them for damage, accuracy, temperature requirements, and overall integrity.
- Load and unload trucks, complete trailer inspections, verify temperatures, and maintain required shipping and receiving logs.
- Maintain organized packaging rooms, dry storage areas, and related workspaces using FIFO, stock rotation, and proper product movement practices.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages, discrepancies, or par level needs to the Fulfillment Manager.
- Clean and sanitize packaging areas, storage areas, equipment, shelves, carts, racking, forklifts, restrooms, breakrooms, and other assigned areas.
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, sanitation standards, food safety requirements, quality expectations, and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Assist other Packaging, Production, Shipping, or Receiving team members as needed.
What We’re Looking For
Required qualifications include:
- Basic math, counting, weighing, and documentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail when verifying labels, lot numbers, weights, counts, and product information.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Ability to work safely with food products and follow food safety, quality, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Reliability, dependability, and willingness to support packaging, shipping, receiving, inventory, cleaning, and other department needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production, packaging, or warehouse environment.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Previous experience in packaging, production, fulfillment, shipping, receiving, warehouse, food manufacturing, or a related environment.
- Experience using pallet jacks, carts, forklifts, labeling systems, scales, or other packaging and warehouse equipment.
- Familiarity with FIFO, lot tracking, inventory control, shipping documentation, or food safety practices.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
This position requires the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Standing and walking for extended periods, up to 8 to 10 hours per shift.
- Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, grasping, and handling materials throughout the shift.
- Regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Using proper lifting techniques, requesting assistance when needed, and using available equipment or team lifting for heavier or awkward items.
- Using hands and fingers to operate packaging equipment, tools, scales, labeling systems, and other work materials.
- Safely using pallet jacks, carts, forklifts, or other warehouse equipment as needed.
- Working in production areas, packaging rooms, dry storage, refrigerated areas, loading docks, and warehouse areas within a food manufacturing facility.
- Reading labels, instructions, scales, and documentation accurately.
- Communicating effectively in a production, warehouse, and shipping environment.
- Following required safety, sanitation, food safety, and personal protective equipment requirements.
