Packaging Engineer

Summary:

• Location: Roswell, GA
• Work Mode: Hybrid, onsite Tuesday & Wednesday, WFH Monday & Thursday
• Duration: 6 Months
• 30 hours/week - may increase if needed
• Core hours: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM ET

Responsibilities:

• Deliver innovative, cost-effective packaging solutions that minimize cost and add value to the customer.
• Strive to improve the capability of existing packaging and equipment to better meet customer and end-user requirements.
• Recommend and support packaging development programs that reduce distribution cost or damage, or provide competitive advantage.
• Establish and maintain relationships with packaging suppliers to stay updated on packaging and equipment developments.
• Understand and communicate the impact of North American legislation.
• Assist with and coordinate packaging testing in accordance with ISTA and ASTM test methods.

Requirements:

• Advanced experience in CAD and corrugated box design.
• Ability to conceptualize tests/experiments to generate relevant data.
• Knowledge of industry-standard test procedures for packaging materials and packages.
• Understand correlation of final art to package design.
• Awareness of applicable packaging laws and regulations.
• General understanding of material supplier's manufacturing process.
• Knowledge of company and customer distribution requirements.
• Knowledge of industry trends and procedures related to packaging materials and technologies.

Preferred Skills:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Science, Industrial Design, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and support projects independently.
• Ability to perform in a team-oriented environment is essential.
• Expert level with TOPS palletization software required.
