Packaging Engineer – Contract
Medical Edge Recruitment is seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer for a contract opportunity with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Ohio.

Duration - 6-12+ months
Pay - $65-95/hour + per diem/expenses
Position Overview
The Packaging Engineer will support pharmaceutical packaging operations and projects, with responsibility for developing, optimizing, troubleshooting, and implementing packaging solutions that meet quality, regulatory, manufacturing, and business requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of packaging equipment, materials, processes, qualification/validation, and packaging line performance.
Responsibilities
  • Support the development, implementation, and optimization of pharmaceutical packaging processes
  • Troubleshoot packaging equipment, materials, and production-line issues
  • Identify opportunities to improve packaging efficiency, quality, throughput, and reliability
  • Support packaging equipment installation, qualification, and validation activities
  • Develop and execute packaging engineering studies and process improvement projects
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams
  • Support packaging line modifications, equipment upgrades, and new equipment implementation
  • Assist with new product introductions and technology transfer activities
  • Evaluate packaging components, materials, specifications, and suppliers
  • Support investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and change controls related to packaging operations
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, protocols, reports, SOPs, specifications, and other technical documents
  • Analyze packaging process data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Support packaging line trials, testing, and process optimization
  • Ensure packaging activities comply with GMP, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and packaging operations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer healthcare, food, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Experience with packaging processes and packaging equipment
  • Understanding of GMP requirements and regulated manufacturing
  • Experience with troubleshooting and process improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and other departments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
