Title: Package Testing Technician
Position Type: 1 year contract with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business need
Job Location: Trumbull, CT
Shift: 1st shift 32 hours per week, NO FRIDAYS

Compensation: $25/HR- $30/HR

Responsibilities:
The Package Testing and Support Technician will support Packaging Engineers with testing, materials coordination, documentation, and administrative activities related to new product launches and product/package qualifications.

Responsibilities include:
• Participate in and lead testing of package components and materials.
• Coordinate the collection, setup, testing, and disposal of package materials.
• Operate a variety of laboratory testing equipment, including compression and vibration testers, pump force testers, vacuum chambers, wall thickness measurement equipment, bottle fillers, and heat sealers for films, pouches, and tubes. Training and written procedures will be provided.
• Perform package testing and accurately document test data and results in typed reports.
• Coordinate and conduct e-commerce shipping tests using ISTA standardized testing procedures. This may involve lifting cases weighing up to 35 lbs., although most cases weigh less than 20 lbs.
• Perform package compatibility testing, including filling formulas into bottles or other packages, placing samples in designated storage areas, and periodically pulling samples for evaluation and data recording.
• Support the qualification and testing of new packaging components, including bottles, closures, and pumps.
• Create and maintain package testing plans.
• Work with suppliers, Packaging Engineers, Package Testing Engineers, and cross-functional team members to help drive projects to completion.
• Assist engineers with the design and development of project-related packaging components.
• Assist with sustainability metrics development and product benchmarking studies by gathering data on packaging currently in the market and researching new packaging examples.
• Assist with setup, adjustment, and minor repair of laboratory equipment as needed.
• Manage multiple activities and prioritize work to meet project timelines.
• Prepare concise, accurate documentation and reports.
• Work under the direction of a Sr. Lab Technician and Packaging Engineer while also taking initiative to identify and complete additional work.
Products supported may include laundry products, personal care products such as soaps and body wash, and hair care and hair coloring products for both retail and salon applications.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Lab Technician or in a packaging-related role within a manufacturing environment; OR a Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Packaging Science with 0–3 years of experience.
• Must have packaging experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to learn and work with custom software testing programs.
• CAPE, Artios, and CAD experience is a plus but not required.
• Self-starter who can work independently and effectively within a small team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
• Comfortable with an active, hands-on work environment involving equipment setup, testing, and filling, capping, and labeling bottles.
• Willingness and ability to perform manual work, including lifting cases up to 35 lbs. Approximately 15% of the role involves e-commerce shipping testing and other physical activities.
Additional Information:
• 32 hours per week.
• No Fridays planned.
