    Job Title: P.E. Aide

    Reports to: Principal

    Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

    Pay Grade: CT1 - 187 days

    Primary Purpose:

    Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under supervision of certified teacher.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Certification:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • 48 accredited college hours or Texas approved state paraprofessional training
    • Valid Texas educational aide certificate

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    • Ability to work well with children
    • Ability to communicate effectively

    Experience:

    • Some experience working with children

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    General

    • Demonstrates thoroughness, reliability and a high degree of accuracy in performing work assignments.
    • Works cooperatively with others and maintains a positive attitude in the work environment.
    • Demonstrates initiative and good judgment in problem solving and decision- making.
    • Reports promptly and maintains good attendance.
    • Uses time productively on the job.
    • Follows district policies, rules and regulations
    • Accepts supervisory direction.
    • Strives to improve job skills.
    • Demonstrates tact, courtesy and helpfulness in dealing with staff, students, parents, and visitors in the district.

    Instructional

    • Assists teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom display.
    • Assists with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
    • Helps maintain neat and orderly gym.
    • Helps with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
    • Helps teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
    • Provides orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

    Student Management

    • Conducts instructional exercises assigned by the coach; work with individual students or small groups.
    • Helps supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom to include lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
    • Keeps teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

    Other

    • Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
    • Participates in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    None

    Copier, personal computer, and audiovisual equipment

    Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Moderate exercises.
