Director of Squash - Ox Ridge Riding and Racquet Club

About the Club:

The Ox Ridge Riding and Racquet Club is a premier private member club with a world-class venue for racquets and equestrian training located in the heart of Darien, Connecticut, which is located approximately 40 miles north of New York City. First established as an equestrian and polo club in 1914, the Club now features 6 international squash courts, 2 doubles courts, 3 paddle tennis courts, a state-of- the-art fitness center, and a beautiful riding facility with both indoor and outdoor space. The squash facility, which was completed in 2018, is one of the top squash facilities in the region and has hosted 5 professional SDA doubles tournaments and several US Squash sanctioned junior events. The club is also in the process of constructing padel courts to further increase its racquet sports offering.

Ox Ridge's current membership consists of approximately 170 racquets members. Within that number, there are approximately 80 junior squash players who participate in junior squash programming, which is a focus area for the club. In addition to junior programming, the squash program consists of varying levels of adult clinics and leagues, various squash tournaments and special events, all of which we are looking for our next Director of Squash to sustain and grow.

Position Overview:

The Ox Ridge Riding and Racquet Club is seeking an entrepreneurial and highly motivated individual to serve as Director of Squash. In this role, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the Club's squash programming, with a particular emphasis on sustaining and further developing the junior squash program, which is currently concentrated in the age range of 5-12 year old players. Additionally, the Director will foster and grow the existing adult singles and doubles programming. This is a unique opportunity for a hardworking squash professional to work at a top-tier club and further develop its programs by leveraging the existing active base of adult and junior members who are very eager to increase their skill and participation in the sport of squash.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group instruction for both adult and junior players across all skill levels.
  • Lead player recruitment and membership growth initiatives.
  • Operate and manage the Ox Ridge squash pro shop; including ordering merchandise, managing inventory, and facilitating member restrings and repairs.
  • Oversee / manage third party use of courts, including but not limited to local schools and recreational leagues.
  • Lead all squash related communication with Club members and serve as a responsive partner to both Club management and members.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional attitude while building strong relationships with members and club staff team members.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in coaching squash at all levels, preferably with recognized coaching qualifications and/or professional international playing experience.
  • Knowledge or experience with hardball doubles preferred.
  • Ability to effectively work with players of varying ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced elite players.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage coaching schedules, court bookings and support administrative functions; experience with either Club Locker or Club Automation platforms a plus.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and non-verbal), friendliness and respect.
  • Positive, collaborative mindset committed to delivering excellent customer service and increasing engagement with membership; you will also work closely with our General Manager; your ability to be a team player and partner with the Club management team is critical.
  • Valid US work visa.
  • Ability to start role this summer prior to commencement of the 2026 fall season.

Compensation & Benefits:

We offer a competitive compensation package that is inclusive of the following:
