    Make an impact behind the scenes by helping ensure accurate payment processing and exceptional financial integrity in healthcare. As an Overpayment Representative, you'll play an important role in researching, reviewing, and resolving credit balances, refunds, payment discrepancies, and related account activity for TeamHealth's emergency medicine business line.

    What You'll Do

    In this role, you'll investigate account balances, support the refund process, and help maintain accurate patient and payer records. You'll work closely with insurance carriers, guarantors, and internal teams to resolve payment-related issues while ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review and process credit balances, refund requests, recoupments, payment research, and unidentified payments
    • Research and determine refund eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, federal programs, and patient accounts
    • Gather and prepare documentation to support refund approval requests
    • Communicate with insurance carriers and guarantors regarding account balances, payment research, offsets, and related inquiries
    • Process payment transfers and account adjustments as needed
    • Research canceled checks and payment activity to ensure accurate account posting
    • Retrieve and process returned and non-sufficient funds (NSF) payments
    • Identify and report recurring account or payment processing issues
    • Maintain knowledge of applicable systems, workflows, and procedures
    • Escalate unusual or complex situations to senior team members or leadership for guidance

    You Bring

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Knowledge of the IDX posting process
    • Medical billing experience preferred
    • Understanding of payment refunds and credit balance resolution
    • Ability to read and interpret insurance explanations of benefits (EOBs)
    • Accurate 10-key data entry skills
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
