Overhead Crane Operator / Material Handler

Position Overview
Qualdoc is seeking a versatile Material Handler to support steel fabrication operations in both the shop and yard. This role involves moving and staging structural steel, operating material-handling equipment, assisting with production tasks, and supporting different areas of the operation as needed.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable handling a variety of responsibilities in an industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Move, organize, and stage structural steel and other materials throughout the yard and facility.
- Operate overhead cranes to position and transport steel safely.
- Use forklifts and Pettibone/telehandler equipment for material movement.
- Jockey trailers and help maintain an organized yard.
- Unload incoming trailers and properly position materials.
- Assist with skidding steel and preparing materials for shipment.
- Operate production equipment or machinery when needed.
- Clean parts and materials to prepare them for production.
- Help maintain inventory and track materials and supplies.
- Follow all equipment-operation and workplace safety requirements.
- Provide material-handling support to other departments to keep production moving.
- Maintain reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating overhead cranes.
- Experience using telehandler/Pettibone equipment.
- Material handling or warehouse experience preferred.
- Some experience working with structural steel.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other industrial equipment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and adjust to changing priorities.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a team.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience is a plus.
- Willingness to learn new tasks and support different areas of the operation.
