Job Overview
This is a remote position with field and on-site responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be located in or near Martinsburg, WV, and must be available to attend on-site meetings with local agencies as needed. This role is not limited to the Martinsburg area and may support projects throughout the eastern portion of West Virginia.The OSP Field Engineer performs detailed Outside Plant engineering work, including field data collection, estimating, analysis, and design.
Responsibilities
- Collect and document field data to support OSP engineering projects
- Perform OSP facility estimating, analysis, fielding, and design
- Prepare and organize permit packages for submission to appropriate entities
- Maintain project files, records, and supporting documentation
- Research and investigate information contained in project files
- Process departmental documentation requiring knowledge of functional operations
- Maintain applicable accounting and continuing property records
- Prepare correspondence and reports from rough drafts
- Provide engineering support as requested
- Travel within West Virginia as needed to support projects and attend on-site meetings
Qualifications
- Strong aerial, buried, and underground OSP engineering or construction experience
- Experience with Make-Ready engineering
- Knowledge of NESC guidelines
- Ability to review proposed engineering designs from other communications companies and determine whether they meet client and NESC standards
- Strong professional, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong computer skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment
- Willingness and ability to travel within West Virginia
- Reliable transportation
- AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Adobe Acrobat Pro experience is desired but not required.
