Outreach Librarian
Pay Range: $56,000-$58,000 based on experience
Description:
The Outreach Librarian is responsible for growing the law library's outreach and collaboration with stakeholders and diverse prospective library users in local government, the legal community, and the general public, with the goal of connecting with the community in a meaningful manner that raises awareness of the law library and encourages future interactions. The Outreach Librarian also provides reference service daily.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate the law library's outreach to local government, the legal community, and the public, promoting library resources and services via programs, exhibits, events, and marketing materials.
- Coordinate and conduct research among the library's various user populations to assess the quality and use of library resources and services and to identify changing needs.
- Act as primary point of contact for advertising library events and services via social media, website and email lists.
- Serve as primary content creator and manager for law library blog, digital signage and social media accounts.
- Manage the technical aspects of on-demand CLE programming, including editing, uploading, marketing, & creating the pages for on-demand videos.
- In consultation with the Systems Librarian, engage in web design and web content creation in accordance with accessibility guidelines.
- Create, publish and distribute the law library's monthly newsletter.
- Communicate with county colleagues from different departments for information sharing and collaborative development.
- With the Law Librarian & Director and librarians' team, develop and implement the library's strategic direction and projects.
- Serve on the reference team, participating in the reference desk daily rotation and providing in-person, phone, and email reference service.
- Share in the responsibility for standard daily departmental operations including circulation, user support, and opening and closing procedures.
- Other projects as directed by the Law Librarian & Director.
Qualifications:
Required:
- An earned ALA- accredited Master's degree in library and/or library information science (MLS/MLIS)
OR
- An earned Juris Doctorate (JD) degree AND a minimum of one year of library experience including direct patron service.
- Experience with digital content creation and social media management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Experience with standard library and office computer applications and systems.
- Must be able to work independently, with minimal oversight.
- Must be able to lift heavy books and boxes, up to 25 lbs., on occasion.
Preferred:
- Recent, relevant experience working in a law library, including reference, research and direct patron service.
- Experience with print and online legal information resources.
- Experience with WordPress.
- Experience with video editing software.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of users.
Hours: 70 hours biweekly - Monday-Friday 8 AM-4 PM
