Outpatient Occupational Therapist (OT) – Huntington, IN

Our client is seeking an Outpatient Occupational Therapist (OT) for a full-time, direct-hire opportunity at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

This is a 32-hour-per-week, day-shift position, Monday through Friday, with occasional holiday and weekend coverage.

A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential is highly preferred, but not required at the time of hire. Candidates who are not currently CHT certified must be willing to obtain the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential within 18 months of hire.

The Occupational Therapist provides professional patient care and practices occupational therapy by evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting treatment. The OT assesses patients and develops and carries out programs of purposeful activity designed to assist in the rehabilitation of medically necessary patients as prescribed by the physician.

Treatment activities are selected based on the physician's prescription, patient history, evaluation findings, experience, and individual patient interests and needs.

Sign-on Bonus: Up to $15,000

May be eligible for relocation bonus

 

Occupational Therapist Job Responsibilities

·        Evaluating patients and developing individualized occupational therapy treatment plans based on physician orders, patient needs, and evaluation findings.

·        Providing occupational therapy services through purposeful activities and therapeutic interventions designed to maximize patient function and independence.

·        Implementing treatment programs in accordance with physician prescriptions and established rehabilitation standards.

·        Selecting appropriate therapeutic activities based on the patient's history, evaluation findings, experience, interests, and functional goals.

·        Planning and directing special diversional or educational activities for patients as appropriate.

·        Instructing and collaborating with Occupational Therapy Assistants regarding treatment procedures and the appropriate implementation of the OT program.

·        Supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants/Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA/OTA) in carrying out an occupational therapy program or selected portions of the program.

·        Monitoring patient progress and modifying treatment approaches as appropriate.

·        Completing all required clinical documentation and billing in a timely and acceptable manner.

·        Providing care in accordance with the philosophy and essential functions of the rehabilitation department, The Joint Commission, applicable State Practice Acts, and the American Occupational Therapy Association.

·        Working at other locations as assigned.

·        If assigned to drive a company vehicle, maintaining a valid driver's license.

·        If driving a personal vehicle, maintaining a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

 

Occupational Therapist Requirements/Knowledge & Skills

·        Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.

·        Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy if graduated prior to 1/1/2002.

·        Master's degree in Occupational Therapy required if graduated after 1/1/2002.

·        International candidates must be graduates of an accredited school and possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.

·        Master's degree preferred.

·        Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Occupational Therapy license in the state where services will be provided.

·        State licensure must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.

·        Must be CPR certified or become certified within the first 90 days of employment.

·        Must maintain all required certifications and licensure according to expiration dates.

·        American Occupational Therapy Association membership preferred.

·        Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential highly preferred, but not required at hire.

·        Candidates who are not currently CHT certified must obtain the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential within 18 months of hire.

·        Previous Occupational Therapy work experience is preferred but not required beyond clinical experience obtained through an educational training program.

·        Must be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds, and may be required to push up to 300 pounds.

·        Must be willing to work at other locations as assigned.
