Outpatient Coding Supervisor

Other duties include being responsible for assigning diagnostic and procedure codes based upon physician documentation, communicating with physicians to ensure complete and accurate documentation, maintaining the bill hold within a designated amount and/or time frame, supervising the work of the coders and CDI staff and abstracting designated information from the medical record for historical and reporting purposes. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Coding Manager, the Outpatient Coding Supervisor oversees the Coding Staff in daily operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient, emergency department, and ancillary services.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Coding Manager, the Outpatient Coding Supervisor oversees the Coding Staff in daily operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient, emergency department, and ancillary services. This position provides leadership, training, quality assurance, and performance management for coding staff while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, payer, and accreditation requirements.Other duties include being responsible for assigning diagnostic and procedure codes based upon physician documentation, communicating with physicians to ensure complete and accurate documentation, maintaining the bill hold within a designated amount and/or time frame, supervising the work of the coders and CDI staff and abstracting designated information from the medical record for historical and reporting purposes. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled At least 3 years experience with medical record coding including outpatient coding.Previous supervisory experience preferred.Knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems.CCS, RHIT or RHIA credentials required.
