Position Summary

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor/Coordinator, performs various tasks as

necessary to provide recreation services to the St. George Community. Specifically responsible for running recreation programs for ages 5-18+. During programs, the Recreation Aide supports coworkers by providing equipment for programs. Assists the Sports Site Supervisors to provide instruction for the following programs: basketball, soccer, flag football, volleyball, rugby, fundamentals, and other sporting activities.

• Assists the Sports Site Supervisor to the essential needs of the programs.
• Provides customer service in person; answering questions and/or referring customers to appropriate staff members.
• Responds to public inquiries providing accurate information regarding recreation programs and services.
• Organizes, cleans, prepares and maintains recreation facilities and equipment
• Works at other City programs and special events as needed.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other related duties as needed
• Follows all city policies and procedures

Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions

Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment. Working indoors/outdoors sometimes in extreme hot/cold temperatures. At times moderately heavy physical activity exerting up to 25 pounds. Mental demands of intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.[1]

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Free access to all 4 city golf courses (Dixie Red Hills, Southgate, St. George Golf Club, and Sunbrook), swimming pools (City Pool and Sand Hollow Aquatic Center) and recreation center is available to all part-time employees.

Note: Golf course privileges are based on availability. Employees can book a tee-time within 24 hours or the same day, but may be turned away if there are no available tee-times. If you happen to be golfing with at least 2 paying customers; tee times can be set with more advance notice, but are still based on availability. Red Hills Golf Course will not be available to schedule tee times in advance --- walk on play based on availability only.
