Out of Town Vegetation Technician

Southern Cal-Edison vegetation management programs including but not limited to: • Pole and Tower clearing of dead, dying, and diseased vegetation. • Assist crews as necessary, in order to perform a job efficiently, safely and utilizing scope.

Job Summary:
This position will perform the clearance of grass and weeds to bare earth in a 10' x 8' cylindrical
shape (10' on each side of the structure x 8' vertically) around power poles and transmission
towers mitigating the risk of ignition/ fuel sources in wildfires while also allowing for proper
inspection of poles and towers to be performed by others. Clear flammable vegetation, a
minimum of 10 feet around any structure, occupied or not to minimize the impact trees and
vegetation have on providing safe and reliable electric service for SCE’s customers. Roads and
rights-of-way require a clearing of a minimum of 10'W by 13'6" H for all vegetation to guarantee
access to SCE infrastructure on unpaved roads. Work locations will vary day by day depending
on the job tasks, cities and counties assigned to each crew/ employee. Work locations vary from
rural mountainous communities in Central California to rural desert communities in Southern
California. Expect out-of-town lodging to be required depending on the needs of the
organization.
Reports to: Vegetation Maintenance/Weed Abatement Supervisors & Project Managers
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clearing brush around poles to reduce fire spread risk and continue to mitigate the risk of
ignition from vegetation. The Vegetation Maintenance/Weed Abatement worker will help ensure
compliance with all rules, regulations, and safety standards for both Brown’s Construction and
Southern Cal-Edison vegetation management programs including but not limited to:
• Pole and Tower clearing of dead, dying, and diseased vegetation
• Hazard Tree Management Program
• Right-of-way clearing
• Providing technical support to SCE contractors
• Participate in Annual Compliance Training
• Other weed abatement duties as requested and assigned by upper management
• Electronic documentation of work completed at each job site
• Assist crews as necessary, in order to perform a job efficiently, safely and utilizing scope
and risk management tools.
• Follows all Brown's Construction Service, Inc. and customers’ safety policies and
procedures
• Effectively communicates with all customers, supervisors, and coworkers
• Ensures timely responses, actions, and corrections to any safety issues or concern
• Participation in all safety tailgate meetings, safety incidents and investigations
