    Description

    The Tractor-Trailer Driver will safely and efficiently deliver finished goods, products, and materials to customers in a timely and professional manner. This job description reflects the current assignment of essential functions and is not meant to be all-inclusive.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws.

    • Transportsloads safely andin a timely mannerover requiredroutes, obeying all traffic laws andobservingall safety regulations.

    • Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals.

    • Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation toshippingoffice or otherappropriate staffwhen delivery route is complete.

    • Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air;reportsmaintenance malfunctions to Shipping Supervisor.

    • Arranges trailers in shipping yards foroptimumloading patterns.

    • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Training & Experience): ​​

    • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred but notrequired.

    • Experience: At least 2 years of professional driving experienceoperatinga tractor-trailer or other heavy commercial vehicle.

    LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS: 

    • Required: Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), held for a minimum of 2 years.

    • Additional Certifications: While not, candidates with certifications relevant to warehouse management,logistics, or safety are encouraged tosubmitthem for consideration.

    KNOWLEDGE,SKILLSAND ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of part numbers and part usage and understand applications for use. 

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operatingand maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

    • Ability to plan, direct,superviseand coordinate the work of subordinates. 

    • Ability to take and follow directions fromsupervisor. 

    • Ability to give directions to and gain compliance from assigned staff. 

    • Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

    • Ability tomaintaingood planning and organizational skills. 

    • Ability tomaintaina good and positive working relationship with all co-workers and other contacts.

    • Required tocomply withall Imperative Logistics' policies and procedures.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed outside having a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements,such as:fumes, smoke or gases, dust, grease, and oils. Work involves rotating shifts and working extended workdays outside the regular working hours andon-call. Capable of working closely with others, and with moving objects or vehicles in an excessive noisy environment.
