Description

Senior Orthopedic Technician

Location: Houston, TX

Pay Rate: Starting at $30.40/hour (Based on experience)

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (Shift varies)

Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced, dependable, and patient-focused Senior Orthopedic Technician to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled orthopedic professional with fiberglass and plaster casting experience to work alongside orthopedic providers in a fast-paced clinical environment. Candidates with pediatric orthopedic experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Apply and remove fiberglass and plaster casts, splints, and orthopedic braces while ensuring patient comfort and proper fit.

     

  • Perform basic orthopedic hardware maintenance and assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.

     

  • Prepare and room patients, ensuring an efficient patient flow throughout the clinic visit.

     

  • Educate patients and families on cast care, skin care following cast removal, activity restrictions, and follow-up instructions.

     

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation in accordance with departmental standards.

     

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the orthopedic care team to provide exceptional patient care.

     

  • Monitor, stock, and manage casting materials, orthopedic supplies, and exam room inventory to ensure clinic readiness.

     

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment while following infection prevention and safety protocols.

     

  • Provide excellent customer service while supporting patients and families throughout their orthopedic treatment.

     

  • Assist with clinic operations and other duties as assigned to support high-quality patient care.

     

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

     

  • Minimum 3 years of orthopedic technician experience performing casting, splinting, and orthopedic hardware maintenance.

     

  • Extensive experience with fiberglass and plaster casting required.

     

  • Pediatric orthopedic experience preferred.

     

  • Knowledge of orthopedic instrumentation, casting techniques, splinting procedures, and aseptic technique.

     

  • Familiarity with medical terminology, patient care procedures, and orthopedic clinic workflows.

     

  • Strong computer skills and experience using electronic medical records and standard office equipment.

     

  • Excellent communication, customer service, organization, and time management skills.

     

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

     

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
