    Entity: Owensboro Health Medical Group | Department: Orthopedics Madisonville | Work Hours: 40 | Weekend Requirements: N/A | 1.0 FTE

    Job Summary:

    Under a physician's direction, applies and adjusts plaster casts and assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Assists in assessment of patient needs and fitting/finishing services of patients.

    • Applies and removes casts including complex casting and orthopedic splints and devices, as directed.

    • Applies and adjusts orthopedic devices such as braces, splints, and compression stockings, as directed.

    • Provides patient education in the use of orthopedic equipment and cast and traction care, as directed.

    • Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.

    • Documents patient care given.

    • Maintains examination areas; assembles/disassembles equipment and instrument ensuring that equipment is available for procedures and examinations.

    • Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.

    • Provides organizational and clerical support to facilitate optimal care and clinic operation.

    • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

    • Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization.

    • High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire

    Licensure/Certification/Registration

    • ABR-OE - Credential from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required upon hire OR

    • ARMA - Registered Medical Assistant through American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) required upon hire OR

    • CCMA - Clinical Medical Assistant Certification through National Health career Association (NHA) required upon hire OR

    • CMA - Certified Medical Assistant through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required upon hire OR

    • CMAC - Clinical Medical Assistant Certification through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) required upon hire OR

    • CMAAC - Clinical Medical Administrative Assistant Certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required upon hire OR

    • MAC - Medical Assistant Certification through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) required upon hire OR

    • NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required upon hire OR

    • NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant through National Association for Health Professionals (NAHCP) required upon hire OR

    • RMA - Registered Medical Assistant through American Medical Technologists (AMT) required upon hire AND

    • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
