Overview:
This entry-level position is designed for individuals who meet the minimum qualifications and are beginning their career in orthopaedic casting. The Orthopaedic Cast Technician supports patient care in an ambulatory clinic setting under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. In this role, the technician assists in the clinical care of patients by fabricating, applying, maintaining, and removing casts, splints, orthopaedic soft goods, and other musculoskeletal dressings and devices. The technician also supports nursing staff and healthcare providers with patient flow, examinations, and minor procedures. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that visit notes, test results, and imaging (e.g., x-rays) are available for patient appointments. The technician is expected to perform clinic-specific technical tasks, help maintain a clean and organized clinic environment, and manage inventory of supplies and equipment. This role may also involve basic administrative duties, including clerical work, insurance processing, and handling medical records. Flexibility to float to other clinic locations may be required based on staffing needs. The candidate must possess one of the following education and experience requirements:
- Completion of an Orthopaedic Technologist certified school/program.
- Completion of a formal medical services training program of the U.S. Armed Forces with proof of a certificate upon discharge.
- Graduate of an approved course of study as a Medical Assistant.
- Graduate of an accredited paramedic program with proof of a valid state license.
- Certification in an Orthopaedic-related field (i.e., Athletic Trainer).
- Graduation from a formal 6 week Nursing Assistant program and at least one full year full time experience.
- Two years on a job full time experience in a hospital, healthcare setting or physician's office.
The candidate should display initiative, have the ability to multitask, and be able to take on additional responsibilities. Proven ability to problem-solve and be a team player is essential.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support (CPR) required or obtained within first month of employment. If currently possess Licensure or Certification expectation would be to continue with this Licensure or Certification.
