About the Department/office:
This position deals with patients ranging from pediatrics to trauma to total joint patients as well as a variety of other Orthopaedic conditions. It is a Monday through Friday position with a start time of 7:30am to 4:30pm to include a 30-minute lunch break. The work located is the Ambulatory Surgical Center on the UNC hospital campus.
Summary:
The Orthopaedic Cast Technologist II is a trained member of the Orthopaedic team who works with all associated health care professionals in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities concerning all Orthopaedic procedures.
The Orthopaedic Cast Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and brace support across the entire Orthopaedic clinic and associated surgery center. This role ensures timely, accurate, and safe delivery of braces and related DME to patients and clinical teams, while maintaining efficient inventory control and staff education.
Incentive:
$5,000 Commitment Incentive paid out in 6 installments over 3 years.

Education Requirements:
High School diploma or GED
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
BLS required.
If five (5) years of experience in Orthopaedics: No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
If NBCOT Orthopaedic Technologist Certification or equivalent certification (Pedorthist Certification), LPN degree or EMT degree: Two (2) years of experience in Orthopaedics.
If no NBCOT or equivalent certification (Pedorthist Certification), LPN degree, or EMT degree: Five (5) years of experience in Orthopaedics. Experience must include vital signs and basic terminology commensurate with training programs for nursing assistants, medical assistants and EMTs.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
Prefer candidates who have ABC or BOC Orthotic Fitter certification or eligibility
