Pay: $56,000-$64,000 per year

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Public Affairs- Iowa, the Organizing & Advocacy Manager will lead and execute grassroots organizing and advocacy efforts throughout Iowa. The Organizing & Advocacy Manager is responsible for building a grassroots activist network and supporting coalitions with allied organizations and constituencies.

Organizing & Advocacy Manager works collaboratively with the Public Affairs team to strengthen community relationships, recruit and develop volunteers, and execute organizing activities for both Planned Parenthood North Central States and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Iowa. This position also supports tracking, analysis, and reporting of organizing and advocacy outcomes to measure progress toward campaign and annual goals. The Organizing & Advocacy Manager position supervises interns and organizing staff, develops and implements organizing plans, supports advocacy and electoral campaigns, and builds and activates a network of grassroots supporters in pursuit of our mission of "Advancing and protecting sexual and reproductive healthcare for all." They may perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience,
• 3-5 years combined experience in grassroots community organizing, campaign experience, and/or volunteer and staff management
• Proven experience with communicating mission and process to volunteers and community partners via both written and verbal channels
• Experience in a volunteer or paid role with a campaign as part of the electoral process
• Willingness to travel throughout the state of Iowa

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

ORGANIZING & ADVOCACY

• Develop and execute regional advocacy and organizing plans for assigned constituencies and capacity programs (including Raíz, PPGen/college organizing, and patient advocacy organizing) across urban, rural, and campus communities across Iowa, in collaboration with staff, interns, and volunteers that align with organizational priorities and campaign goals.
• Leverage regional advocacy strategies and organizing plans to support grassroots advocacy and lobbying in response to state and federal legislative context.
• Partner with organizing staff to recruit, engage, and develop volunteers, supporters, and community leaders.
• Support relationship-building and engagement efforts with community partners, allied organizations, and coalitions to strengthen organizing efforts.
• Represent the organization in coalitions, community events, task forces, committees, and partnership spaces, as assigned.
• Evaluate campaign progress and adjust organizing strategies and tactics to meet goals and respond to emerging opportunities.

ORGANIZING OPERATIONS, EXECUTION, AND COMPLIANCE

• Lead the execution of advocacy and electoral activities, and support community engagement activities, across Iowa.
• Support Director of Public Affairs, Iowa in managing the PPAI board, including regular attendance and administrative support at board meetings, and in committee meetings, as assigned.
• Maintain and deliver organizing training and educational resources for staff and volunteers, including organizing tools.
• Develop or support the creation of outreach materials, scripts, volunteer resources, event plans, canvas turfs, outreach lists, and other campaign materials as needed.
• Ensure organizing activities are executed effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational priorities.
• Ensure accurate and timely entry of organizing, volunteering, and advocacy data.
• Support staff utilizing organizing tools and tactics for their organizing work, including the Voter Activation Network (VAN), EveryAction (EA), and other outreach platforms
• Oversee and adhere to the data management plan that includes systems and best practices that ensure data validity.
• Manage and maintain EveryAction/VAN records and database, including serving as an Affiliate Data Manager for PPAI.
• Assist in compiling monthly, quarterly, and annual quantitative and narrative data for reporting.

SUPERVISION OF INTERNS & ORGANIZING STAFF

• Hire, train, and manage organizing staff and interns; provide coaching, guidance, and professional development opportunities to staff.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and results-oriented team culture grounded in equity, racial justice, and intersectionality among Iowa team members, as well as across the affiliate.
• Establish and promote organizing best practices that support effective advocacy, organizing, and electoral work.
• Lead staff and programming during applicable election cycles, ensuring compliance with organizational, state, and federal requirements.
