Job Title: Order Picker


Job Description


The Order Picker accurately selects finished products from warehouse storage locations to fulfill customer orders while maintaining product quality and inventory accuracy. This role prepares orders for shipment, supports conveyor and inventory operations, and operates material handling equipment safely in a fast-paced warehouse environment. The Order Picker also contributes to inventory control activities, maintains a clean and organized workspace, and supports training efforts for team members.


Responsibilities


+ Accurately pick customer orders from warehouse storage locations while maintaining product quality and inventory accuracy.

+ Utilize RF scanners and computer-based warehouse systems to process inventory transactions and track material movement in real time.

+ Process orders through conveyor systems and monitor conveyor operation for proper product flow and to identify and resolve equipment jams.

+ Prepare customer orders for shipment by palletizing, wrapping, boxing, labeling, and completing all required documentation.

+ Attach packing slips, shipping documentation, and order labels to outbound orders as required.

+ Safely operate forklifts, order pickers, and other material handling equipment in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.

+ Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including pallet building and organizing outbound and inbound materials.

+ Support inventory control by reporting discrepancies, conducting case counts, assisting with audits, and completing necessary paperwork.

+ Build pre-packs and pallet displays according to established instructions and specific customer requirements.

+ Maintain warehouse cleanliness by removing waste, cardboard, shrink wrap, and damaged materials from work areas and ensuring organized storage.

+ Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures while working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

+ Support training efforts for new and existing Order Pickers by sharing best practices and demonstrating proper procedures.

+ Complete paperwork and order documentation accurately and in a timely manner to support inventory and shipping accuracy.

+ Collaborate with team members and work in multiple warehouse work centers as business needs require.


Essential Skills


+ Order picking experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.

+ Proficiency using RF scanners and warehouse inventory systems to process transactions and track materials.

+ Ability to safely operate forklifts, order pickers, and other material handling equipment within warehouse operations.

+ Experience preparing orders for shipment, including palletizing, wrapping, boxing, labeling, and documentation.

+ High School Diploma or GED required.

+ Ability to obtain forklift and order picker certification as required by the employer.

+ Successful completion of the company Order Picker Qualification Checklist (or ability to do so upon hire).

+ Basic computer and keyboarding skills.

+ Ability to perform basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

+ Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy.

+ Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

+ Strong communication and teamwork skills.

+ Excellent attendance, reliability, and safety awareness.

+ Willingness to work in multiple warehouse work centers as business needs require.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.

+ Experience in pallet building, pre-pack assembly, and pallet display construction.

+ Familiarity with conveyor systems and monitoring product flow to prevent or resolve jams.

+ Experience maintaining clean, organized work areas in support of safe and efficient warehouse operations.

+ Comfort working around moving mechanical parts, motorized vehicles, and airborne particles.

+ Interest in ongoing skills development through on-site training on tooling, equipment, and machinery.

Work Environment


The role is based in a manufacturing plant environment that includes working around moving mechanical parts, airborne particles (primarily spices), and motorized vehicles such as forklifts and other material handling equipment. There is a strong spice aroma throughout the facility and surrounding areas, which employees report becomes less noticeable after about a week of working on site. The position follows a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The work involves physical activity in a fast-paced warehouse setting, with a focus on safety, organization, and adherence to established procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $47695.00 - $47695.00/yr.


Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
