Description

Our client is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator to support a mission-critical federal IT operations and maintenance program. This role is responsible for administering, maintaining, securing, and optimizing enterprise database environments that support applications and services used globally.

The DBA will support production operations, disaster recovery, database modernization, performance optimization, security, backup and recovery, and the reliable operation of geographically distributed database environments.

  • Implement, administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise Oracle database environments.
  • Support Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, GoldenGate, Transparent Data Encryption, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Perform database performance tuning, index optimization, query analysis, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain database backup, recovery, replication, monitoring, and disaster-recovery capabilities.
  • Administer Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other database management systems.
  • Develop stored procedures, triggers, and SQL-based database solutions.
  • Maintain database security and integrity controls.
  • Rapidly remediate high-severity vulnerabilities and actively exploited security issues.
  • Review database designs and system integrations and recommend enhancements.
  • Manage database and transaction-log backups, notifications, and replication across multiple servers and remote locations.
  • Develop and enforce database administration, access, and user standards.
  • Support database migrations, capacity planning, disaster-recovery testing, and modernization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity personnel, system administrators, and government stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain database documentation, operational procedures, backup schedules, recovery plans, technical reports, and configuration-management records.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and continuous operational improvement.
  • Review technical designs, reports, documentation, and other materials produced by team members.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced personnel when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, including computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or biology.
  • Three to five years of relevant database administration experience.
  • Strong Oracle database administration experience.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, backup and recovery, patching, security, and production support.
  • Ability to communicate technical recommendations, diagnoses, and solutions to management and customers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and support complex projects.
  • Must reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
  • Must be available to work Saturday through Tuesday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Must be available for occasional onsite work in Washington, DC or Sterling, Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing and supporting Oracle 19c RDBMS and Oracle GoldenGate 19c or 21c in production environments.
  • Experience upgrading Oracle RDBMS from 11g or 12c to 19c.
  • Experience implementing and supporting Transparent Data Encryption.
  • Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, patching, and database security.
  • Experience creating custom monitoring reports using Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.
  • Experience with Oracle database containerization.
  • Experience with private or public Oracle Cloud environments.
  • Experience with Oracle engineered systems, including Exadata or Sun SuperCluster.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience.

Salary: $110,000 annually (Depending on experience and qualifications)
 

Important: This position requires a mandatory Saturday–Tuesday schedule. Candidates must currently hold an active Secret clearance, reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and be available for occasional onsite work in Washington, DC or Sterling, VA.
