Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical nursing, preferably with ophthalmology experience, and demonstrate exceptional patient care skills. This role involves working closely with surgeons and other medical professionals to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for ensuring a safe and sterile environment while delivering compassionate support to patients and their families.

Duties
- Circulate during ophthalmic procedures, including preparing equipment, positioning patients, and assisting the surgical team.
- Monitor sterile technique and infection control standards.
- Accurately document intraoperative care, medications, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and scrub staff to ensure efficient case flow.
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and verify surgical documentation and consents.
- Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives.
Skills
Candidates should possess a variety of skills that enhance their ability to perform effectively in the Operating Room environment. Preferred skills include:
- Knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding for accurate medical documentation.
- Experience in surgical ophthalmology or ASCs
- Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the State of Alabama (required).
- BLS certification (required)
- ACLS certification (required)
- Prior OR experience required; ophthalmology or ASC experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical procedures, and patient safety standards.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
