Duration: 18 months contractJob Description:- The role involves powering up lasers, aligning beams through multiple optical paths, calibrating the system, and performing reticle inspections to verify that the tool is operating correctly. The position is also heavily focused on optics-related troubleshooting, where the root cause may be optical, electrical, or mechanical.
- This opportunity can be a strong fit for recent Mechanical or Electrical Engineering graduates, as well as experienced candidates with hands-on laser and optics backgrounds. David specifically noted that relevant laser/optics experience can be more important than the total number of years of experience.
Responsibilities:- Power up and initialize laser-based equipment.
- Align laser beams through multiple optical paths.
- Perform optical alignment and system calibration.
- Inspect reticles and run system inspections to verify equipment performance.
- Troubleshoot optical modules and system issues, identifying optical, electrical, or mechanical root causes.
- Follow detailed procedures throughout a complex build process that can take approximately 35–40 days from start to completion. - Work closely with other technicians/engineers during the training and learning period.
- Progress toward independently executing procedures while knowing when to ask questions and seek clarification.
- Maintain clear notes and documentation to support repeatable execution of complex procedures.
Experience:- Strong laser and optics experience, or relevant academic exposure to optics/laser systems.
- Understanding of optical alignment, laser systems, or optical beam paths.
- Hands-on electromechanical troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot systems where the root cause may be optical, electrical, or mechanical.
- Comfortable working in a Class 100 cleanroom and following full gowning requirements when applicable.
Skills:- Experience building, installing, or integrating large-scale industrial or technical equipment.
- Experience working in a physically demanding, hands-on environment with large equipment and mechanical components.
Education:- Technical Certificate, or AS degree, or military technical training experience, or equivalent vocational training in a technical discipline or BSEE, BSEET or similar degree in an engineering discipline is strongly preferred.
