    Optical Department Manager – Davis Eye Center

    Davis Eye Center is seeking a motivated and experienced Optical Department Manager to lead our Optical team within a fast-paced, patient-centered vision practice.     Position Summary

    The Optical Department Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Optical Department while ensuring exceptional patient care and a positive team environment.

    This role requires a strong leader who can coach, develop, and motivate staff while maintaining efficient workflows and delivering a high-quality patient experience. The Optical Department Manager also plays an active role in patient care by assisting with eyewear selection, troubleshooting concerns, and ensuring patients feel confident and cared for throughout their optical journey.

    What You’ll Do

    Leadership & Operations

    • Lead, coach, and develop Optical staff to drive high performance and consistency
    • Promote teamwork, accountability, and excellent patient service
    • Evaluate staff performance and provide training and development opportunities
    • Assist team members with daily responsibilities and workflow support as needed
    • Maintain inventory levels, lab supplies, and organized optical operations
    • Ensure visually appealing and up-to-date merchandise displays
    • Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow to support timely service

    Patient Care & Optical Services

    • Assist patients with frame selection, lens options, fit, and styling recommendations
    • Help patients select eyewear that fits their prescription, lifestyle, and visual needs
    • Accurately calculate insurance co-pays and process optical orders
    • Receive, verify, and dispense eyewear orders in a timely manner
    • Perform frame adjustments, repairs, and troubleshoot patient concerns
    • Follow up with patients to ensure comfort, satisfaction, and overall positive experience

    What You Bring

    High school diploma or equivalent required
    Previous optician experience required
    Supervisory or leadership experience required
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
    Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
    Passion for patient care and delivering a high-quality customer experience

    Physical Demands & Work Environment

    This role requires standing for extended periods and working in a fast-paced clinical and retail environment. Team members should be comfortable with:

    • Sustained standing and movement throughout the day
    • Close visual acuity for detailed optical work
    • Frequent communication with patients, providers, and staff
