Job Summary:

  • Responsible for assisting patients through the course of eye examination and treatment; prepare patients for examinations, tests or treatments and explain procedures
  • Perform all areas of history taking, diagnostic testing and pre-testing in preparation for physician exam and consultation
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures
  • Provide patient education
  • Maintain exam room and diagnostic instrument supplies
  • Additional duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Completion of Ophthalmic Technician training or prior on-the-job training
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate empathetically in a professional, courteous and efficient manner
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks in order to complete and maintain workflow
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member who is flexible, cooperative and willing to assist others
  • Interest in continuing education and professional growth
  • Commitment to accountability and dependability
