Operator I

Working under close supervision, the Operator I performs a combination of assembly, repair, and test operations on pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), leads, and related medical device assemblies. Torsos, upper arms, and legs must be covered; no above-ankle pants/skirts, short shirts, or sleeveless tops (ankle-length skirts allowed only with full leggings/stockings underneath).

Job Summary:

• This position is responsible for the production of high-quality medical devices within a manufacturing cell. Working under close supervision, the Operator I performs a combination of assembly, repair, and test operations on pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), leads, and related medical device assemblies. Work is performed per standardized procedures and is closely and continually reviewed.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine assignments according to specified/standardized procedures
• Ensure job documentation for cell operations and functions is accurate and up to date
• Communicate ideas, problems, and solutions clearly to all levels of manufacturing management, in both written and oral form
• Maintain a positive attitude with internal and external customers (including tours)
• Follow safety guidelines and use appropriate safety devices for all operations
• Participate in continuous improvement/quality initiatives to enhance production processes and achieve quality and profitability metrics
• Maintain accurate records to ensure traveler and quality documents are correct, all parts are traceable, and quality issues can be addressed
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing
• Support the Manufacturing Supervisor/Manager in setting and monitoring individual and cell performance goals
• Support divisional initiatives related to Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements

Requirements:

• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written procedures; understand and follow verbal instructions
• Understanding of and ability to use electronic data collection systems and computer software packages
• Ability to prioritize work by sequencing and timing jobs based on precedence and importance
• Ability to handle and maneuver small components and parts
• Ability to make critical decisions and judgments with minimal supervision

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Dress Code (interview tour and on-the-job):

• Clothing must be non-shedding, free of frayed hems/loose threads, and free of tassels, fringe, glitter, or sequins
• No sweaters, sweater vests, loose-fiber/knit garments, or fleece
• Clothing must be clean and free of visible contamination
• All clothing (waist up) must fit under the lab coat/gown; sleeves and collars must not extend beyond coat cuffs/neckline
• Caps, hats, scarves, or bandanas not worn under the bouffant; religious/cultural head wraps must be fully covered by the bouffant and lab coat/gown
• Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes required at all times (heel no higher than 2"); no sandals, clogs, slippers, or open shoes
• Torsos, upper arms, and legs must be covered; no above-ankle pants/skirts, short shirts, or sleeveless tops (ankle-length skirts allowed only with full leggings/stockings underneath)
• No nail polish, acrylics, or artificial nails
• No jewelry/piercings that could pierce gloves or can't be covered by gowning
• No makeup (lip balm in stick form OK if applied outside production area, prior to hand washing)
• No scented personal products (deodorant excepted); no lotion after hand washing
• Open or bleeding wounds must be covered with a bandage
