Operations Support Specialist - Warehouse & Distribution

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM-4:00 PM

Salary: $50,000-$65,000 annually, depending on experience

Position Summary

We're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Operations Support Specialist to join our team! This hands-on position plays an important role in supporting daily warehouse, distribution, inventory, and manufacturing operations while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate is a versatile team player who enjoys balancing administrative responsibilities with hands-on warehouse activities. This position works closely with Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and Production to keep daily operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse & Inventory Operations

• Support daily warehouse and distribution activities, including order fulfillment, inventory movement, and material handling.

• Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts, inventory transactions, and documented adjustments.

• Create, process, and receive purchase orders and warehouse transfer orders.

• Coordinate special-order inventory transfers between L.J. Smith locations.

• Pick, stage, and prepare customer orders using forklifts, order pickers, and other powered industrial equipment.

• Deliver customer orders using a company-provided non-CDL delivery truck.

• Help maintain inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and cost control.

Operations & Production Support

• Assist with manufacturing planning, production scheduling, and work order preparation.

• Monitor production activities, maintain schedules, and prepare operational reports.

• Coordinate with warehouse, production, and customer service teams to support order accuracy and timely fulfillment.

• Assist with product quotes, cost calculations, and product information as needed.

• Identify operational challenges and collaborate with leadership to implement solutions.

• Provide backup support to the supervisor when needed.

Teamwork, Safety & Customer Service

• Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment by following company safety policies and standard operating procedures.

• Support and guide warehouse team members in daily operations.

• Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal departments to resolve issues and maintain service expectations.

• Balance competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

• Identify and report safety concerns or process inconsistencies to the Operations Manager.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.
