Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing maintenance and production operations in a manufacturing environment. This role provides leadership and work direction to skilled trades personnel and production employees while ensuring production requirements are achieved across machining, metal fabrication, and welding operations. The position partners with day shift leadership to support maintenance projects, preventive maintenance programs, workforce development, and operational objectives. The successful candidate will promote safety, quality, equipment reliability, employee accountability, and efficient production performance.
 
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and work direction to skilled trades personnel and production employees during third shift operations.
  • Support manufacturing operations by ensuring production requirements are met in machining, metal fabrication, and welding areas.
  • Collaborate with day shift leaders to coordinate maintenance projects, preventive maintenance activities, and operational priorities.
  • Ensure assigned personnel have the appropriate training, work instructions, and tools required to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Monitor control plans and troubleshoot workmanship-related issues to ensure products meet established quality standards.
  • Supervise production activities to support quality, productivity, and operational objectives.
  • Monitor employee performance and take appropriate corrective action when necessary while ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and work rules.
  • Respond to employee concerns and support a productive, compliant work environment.
  • Establish maintenance, facility, manufacturing, and distribution priorities based on production schedules and operational needs.
  • Communicate work schedules, policy updates, and relevant operational information with employees and counterpart leaders across shifts.
  • Plan and coordinate equipment and facility maintenance activities to maximize uptime and asset utilization.
  • Implement and monitor safety programs and housekeeping initiatives to maintain a safe and organized workplace.
  • Support maintenance planning, project execution, and continuous operational improvement efforts.
  • Provide technical support and guidance related to maintenance and production operations when required.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities and support overtime, weekend, and holiday operations as needed.
 
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent related work experience preferred.
 
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, skilled trades, maintenance, manufacturing, or other technical fields.
  • Experience leading capital and expense-related projects.
  • Experience using SAP within a manufacturing or maintenance environment.
  • Experience supervising skilled trades employees is preferred.
  • Experience working with automation, controls, robotics, or related manufacturing technologies is preferred.
  • Experience creating purchase orders within SAP is preferred.
  • Experience supporting unionized workforces is preferred.
 
Required Skills
  • Leadership and employee supervision in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, maintenance, and skilled trades operations.
  • SAP system experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other standard office applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of safe work practices and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities while maintaining composure and productivity.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to support operational troubleshooting.
  • Effective decision-making under pressure.
  • Ability to drive accountability and performance.
  • Strong time management, project management, and organizational skills.
 
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Experience supervising electricians, pipefitters, millwrights, and building/grounds personnel.
  • Exposure to automation, controls, and robotics systems.
  • Advanced experience with SAP maintenance-related transactions.
  • Experience supporting maintenance planning and operational improvement initiatives.
 
Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $35.61 - $35.61 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
