Position Description
 
Position Title:                          Thomasville Operations Manager                            
Reports To:                              Director of Inventory and Safety
FLSA:                                       Exempt                                                            
 
 
Position Summary
 
The Operations Director will oversee the day-to-day management and supervision of the branch location’s logistical operations including warehouse, fleet vehicle and physical plant maintenance programs as well as the oversight all volunteer initiatives and customer service. 
 
What You’ll Do
 
  • Provides day-to-day oversight, management and support of the entire branch in partnership with members of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Accountable for the overall physical plant operations (including warehouse and physical plant).
  • This role oversees and ensures the general cleanliness of the environment (supervision of Maintenance Manager).
  • Responsible for the cost effective, efficient and timely receiving and warehousing of food.
  • In partnership with the Transportation Logistics Director, oversees the regular activities of the driver team (to include routing and scheduling, etc.).
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, USDA, AIB, GMP, Feeding America in all programs within this function.
  • Works in partnership with Chief Operations Officer to ensure all food safety standards and policies are adhered to.
  • Works in partnership with the Operations Director to ensure effective, efficient, and timely distribution of food across the network.
  • Participates in all site inspections as conducted by various regulatory authorities and makes appropriate corrections as required and needed.
  • Assists the Operations Director in operating an effective inventory control system.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the physical plant to ensure safety for employees, visitors and volunteers and reflect a positive image.
  • Responsible for maintaining the companies’ culture of Safety, Courtesy, Show, and Efficiency
 
What You’ll Need
 
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in physical plant maintenance and operations/warehouse management; non-profit program management required.
  • Strong team management abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with coworkers
  • Must possess a current and valid certification for material handling equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with outside vendors, and hold vendors accountable to achieve agreed upon terms.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of community resources and industry standards.
  • Understanding of social service and anti-hunger programs.
  • General knowledge of inventory systems and processes.
  • Solid acumen in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Able to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • A valid driver’s license for the past three years; clean driving record (no points or moving violation within the last three years).
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds.
 
With Whom You Will Work
 
This position will interface with staff members and the leadership team.  Additionally, this role will work with community partners.

  • This position works primarily in a warehouse and office setting.
  • Comfortable working in extreme hot or cold temperatures.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Must be comfortable in a loud work environment.
  • The employee must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time.
  • The employee frequently is required to stop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
