INTRODUCTION:
Komatsu South Africa has an opportunity for an Operations Manager to join the Africa Operations team based at the Head Office in Germiston. The candidate should have a business-related diploma (NQF 6 or higher), 8 years of work experience,including 3 years in a leadership role overseeing technical staff, and a track record in customer liaison, financial management and problem resolution in the mining/construction field.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- ISO 9001/14001,
- OSHAS 18001,
- Occupational Health and Safety Act,
- Fundamentals of Labour Relations act,
- MS Word (High proficiency), MS Excel (High proficiency), MS Project & Outlook (High proficiency) MS PowerPoint (High proficiency),
- Valid Driver's License (essential)
SUMMARY OF JOB ROLE:
Horizon Planning:
- Participates in operations strategic plan development with divisional team and Operations Executive.
- Interprets, manages and cascades branch plans, business priorities, objectives and outputs.
- Assesses the impact of risk mitigating plans and preventative action strategies and recommends alternatives to Operations leadership.
Human Capital Management:
- Participates in planning human resources needs & requirements for the branch for approval by Executive leadership.
- Lives the organisation's culture and values.
- Conducts and plans individual development and career path discussions with the team.
Directs and manages Branch Human Resources
Financial Management:
- Provides input into the financial requirements of the branch.
- Participates in the budgeting process for Unit Sales, Parts Sales & R&M Contracts.
- Participates in the planning of audits in collaboration with the Finance/audit function when required.
Contracts/Supplier Management:
- Assumes overall accountability for adherence to Procurement & Supplier Management policy & procedure.
- Reports on contractual issues, metrics and other related information.
Liaison & Changement:
- Provides change leadership.
- Liaises with and fosters sound ethical stakeholder relationships.
- Communicates organisational goals and direction clearly, consistently and regularly to all branch staff.
Unit Sales:
- Networks, builds and maintains sound business relationships with customers.
- Negotiating terms and sale with the customer.
- Monitors market trends and analyse business opportunities with a view to maximising parts and equipment sales potential.
Service:
- Participates in and approves maintenance planning activities.
- Manages the overall servicing process.
Manages and assumes accountability for correct job costing information.
Parts Sales:
- Manages the parts sales process.
- Checks compliance to stock count policy & procedure and reviews stock reports.
- Executes periodic checks and implements discipline with regards to administration and paperwork relating to the collating and filing of documents for audit purposes.
Warehouse Management:
- Obtaining warehousing standards from Parts Division with regard to warehouse layout (planograph) and optimal arrangement of storage.
- Checking that equipment in the warehouse is in good working order.
- Manages the warehouse function for the branch.
Product Support:
- Manages the Product Support function for the branch.
- Checking that resources for optimal product support are in place (manuals, information, tools, sheets, etc.).
- Provides feedback to centralised product support on machine trends, data and or other issues which may impact improvements/customer satisfaction
