The Operations Manager in the Office of the Dean of Students is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and supervision of all clerical and administrative functions of the department while also providing coordination and oversight for the presence and direction of programming initiatives for the department. Maintains schedules and supervision over student employment for the department. Prepares reports and documents as needed to assist the Assistant Vice President for Student Well-being and Dean of Students. Manages fiscal/budgeting tasks (e.g. purchase orders, budget transfers, etc.).
Serves as first point of contact for stakeholders to provide information on departmental services. Monitors incoming departmental emails, walk-in needs, and phone communication to appropriately delegate case resolutions to the overall Office of the Dean of Students team. Monitors incoming FAST reports and ongoing communication related to open Student of Concern Cases and provides updates as needed. Assumes a high level of responsibility for the operation and management of processes within the Office of the Dean of Students while also representing the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of the Executive Vice President of Student Affairs.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree plus two years of applicable experience is required. Master's degree may be substituted, and is preferred. Training/experience working in a higher education environment is preferred, specifically within an Office of the Dean of Students or within a Residence Life/Housing department trained in crisis response. Familiarity with FERPA is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing and electronically. Must be able to use routine office equipment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, database management, student information systems (e.g., BANNER, Maxient), report preparation and analysis highly desirable. Knowledge of web-authoring programs desirable. Must be able to produce high volume of work accurately and be able to handle stressful situations smoothly. Must be capable of exercising good judgment, discretion, and problem solving with interpreting and administering policies and procedures.. Ability to supervise and direct student employees is essential.
Additional Comments Regarding Position
As part of the on-call rotation, must be able to respond to incidents after hours. May be required to attend evening and weekend College functions.
