    Description

    Application deadline: Oct 26, 2026

Are you energized by solving real-world engineering challenges that directly improve safety, quality, and productivity for customers? As an Operations Engineer at Amazon, you will manage the lifecycle of greenfield and brownfield projects - from initial design through installation and qualification. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners including Engineering, Safety, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to deliver solutions on time and within budget. This is a great opportunity to join a growing team that is expanding its project portfolio, where your ability to navigate change, solve problems, and drive results will have a visible impact on how Amazon serves its customers.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Manage the lifecycle of facility projects from design through installation and qualification, delivering building and system solutions such as racking, shelving, storage, and work cells per established standards
    • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders - including Engineering, Safety, Supply Chain, Finance, vendors, and Operations - to set priorities, establish milestones, and drive project schedules
    • Validate stakeholder designs and customer requirements, identify technical deficiencies, and resolve basic system problems while learning root cause analysis techniques
    • Provide clear and timely project status updates, risk analyses, and mitigation plans to leadership, ensuring the right information reaches the right audience at the right time
    • Leverage project management and productivity tools such as Smartsheet, Autodesk, and generative AI tools to track progress, optimize processes, and improve solution delivery

    A day in the life

You start your day reviewing project schedules and coordinating with operations teams and contractors on active installation or qualification activities. You might spend the morning facilitating a planning meeting with stakeholders, aligning on objectives and next steps, then publishing detailed notes to drive accountability. In the afternoon, you could be on-site validating equipment designs against customer requirements, identifying a gap, and working with a vendor to develop a practical workaround. Between meetings, you use tools like Smartsheet and Autodesk to update timelines, track milestones, and flag risks before they become blockers.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
