Operations Coordinator / Business Operations Assistant
About the Opportunity
Sterling Engineering is partnering with an established, family-owned logistics and industrial services company with over 50 years of success to hire an Operations Coordinator / Business Operations Assistant. This is a unique opportunity for a highly organized, resourceful, and motivated individual to work directly with company leadership and support daily business operations.
This is not a traditional Executive Assistant role. We're looking for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, solving problems, researching solutions, and helping keep business operations running smoothly. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, adaptable, and eager to grow within the organization. This position offers the opportunity to become a trusted resource to leadership while gaining exposure to multiple areas of the business.
Newer professionals and candidates with transferable skills are encouraged to apply! We're looking for someone with the right attitude, organizational abilities, and willingness to learn—not necessarily someone with extensive years of experience.
What You'll Do
Support daily business operations and assist leadership with projects and initiatives.
Serve as a liaison between executive leadership and various departments.
Coordinate projects, track priorities, and ensure timely follow-up on action items.
Research information, identify resources, and help develop solutions to operational challenges.
Prepare reports, track departmental metrics, and organize business data.
Assist with operational reporting, including carrier-related reporting.
Learn and utilize company software systems, including EDM and Zoho CRM.
Prepare presentations, reports, meeting materials, and other business documents.
Assist with trade show coordination and special projects as needed.
Identify opportunities to improve organization, communication, and operational efficiency.
Manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
What We're Looking For
1–3 years of experience in operations support, business coordination, project coordination, administrative support, or a related role preferred.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Comfortable learning new software, systems, and business processes.
Experience preparing reports, tracking metrics, or organizing operational data.
Strong research, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assignments.
Professional and comfortable interacting with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
Adaptable, coachable, and willing to take on a variety of responsibilities.
Experience with CRM systems, including Zoho, is a plus.
Who Will Succeed in This Role?
Resourceful: You enjoy researching information and figuring out solutions.
Organized: You can juggle multiple projects without losing track of details.
