Scope of Responsibility:
This position assists operations technicians in meeting or exceeding daily production goals by providing support across various production areas and functions, including material and equipment handling, changeovers, quality checks, cleaning, and sanitation, and finished goods inspection. As an entry-level role, it serves as part of a talent pool for developing and selecting Full-Time Operations Technicians.
Core Responsibilities:
Attend team meetings and ensure effective transfer of key information between shifts
Clean and sanitize equipment throughout the packaging and process areas
Hand-stack all bag sizes as neededAssist technicians with line changeovers, including primary and ancillary equipment preparation and execution
Conduct product sampling and quality checks efficiently and promptly
Support finished goods preparation and inspection, including top cap placement and inspection checklists
Produce end-of-shift reports detailing pallets and pounds produced
Manage Dump back/Regrind/Reblend product movement
Monitor and support line operation during lunches, breaks, or as needed
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area (sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, shoveling, pushing)
Identify and communicate production issues to relevant personnel
Ensure safety standards are met or exceeded per Hills Safety Policy at the Bowling Green plant
Handle waste removal and disposal from production lines
Participate in cross-functional operational teams as assigned
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum 1 year in a manufacturing environment
Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends
Proficient with computers, software, and data processing
Managing Materials and Services:
Oversee supply chain flow from raw and packaging material acquisition to finished goods production, including indirect materials and services
Knowledge of materials required for different products
Communicate with Lead Operators and colleagues regarding material needs
Arrange internal transportation of materials
Continuous Improvement:
Apply continuous improvement tools to drive growth, profitability, and staff development
Use improvement proposals and participate in vertical teams
Contribute to plant KPIs and objectives
Initiate initiatives to optimize workflows and machinery (CIR)
