Overview:

A growing fund is looking to add an Operations Analyst to their New York office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain broad exposure to the full trade lifecycle at a macro hedge fund, across a wide range of assets. The firm is actively trading throughout the US session, so this is a front-line role, not simply out-of-hours support. You will support the increasing operational complexity of the business, working closely with the funds London team.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in an operations, middle office or trade support role at a bank, broker, asset manager or hedge fund
  • Exposure to the following products: OTC Derivatives, Fixed Income, Rates, Exotics, Options or Equities
  • Understanding of the trade lifecycle, including booking, matching, affirmation, confirmation and settlement
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to reconciliations and break investigation
  • Clear written communication, particularly for handovers and escalations
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively, especially when the London team is offline

Responsibilities:

  • Checking trade bookings for accuracy and completeness and chasing recaps from counterparties.
  • Monitoring trade matching status and working closely with our fund administrator to track downstream affirmation and confirmation
  • Pushing through trades across equities, bonds and futures, ensuring they are correctly booked and settled
  • Performing daily cash and position reconciliations and investigating breaks
  • Providing out-of-hours coverage for the London team, monitoring the shared Operations inbox and resolving or escalating important queries
  • Preparing clear, well-documented handovers to London at the end of the US day
  • Supporting traders and PMs with trade-related queries, including rolls, expiries and corporate actions
  • Gaining exposure to broader business processes, including risk, PMS, treasury and finance
